PATIENT INFORMATION REPRESENTATIVE (SHIFT: 7 AM – 3:30 PM)

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, a fully accredited 404-bed community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center, is seeking a full-time Patient Information Representative to join our Mother Baby Unit.
This role is essential in ensuring seamless patient support and administrative coordination. The ideal candidate must be flexible, adaptable, and available to work alternate weekends.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize EPIC software to input, update, and retrieve patient data.
- Assist patients with accessing services, understanding policies, and making healthcare decisions.
- Assemble patient charts for admissions.
- Facilitate communication between patients, families, medical staff, administrative personnel, and regulatory agencies.
- Interview patients or representatives to address concerns related to their care.
- Maintain knowledge of available community services and patient resources.
- Direct patients to appropriate healthcare services and resources.
- Investigate and escalate patient inquiries or complaints to the appropriate medical personnel and follow up for resolution.
- Provide clear explanations of policies, procedures, and available services to patients.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Bengali, or Hindi is mandatory.
- AHA-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Current or recent EPIC experience is required.
- Minimum one year of secretarial experience required.
- Must have solid work history
- Prior Operating Room (OR) scheduling experience is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
SALARY: $25.14/hr. Plus full 1199 Union Benefits
