Job Title: Accounting Associate 2/ Payroll
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary
Obtains financial data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties as assigned:
- Performs complex clerical assignments of an accounting nature such as analyzing accounts, records, reports, journal vouchers, ledgers, and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Investigates questionable entries and initiates or takes corrective measures.
- Assists in the preparation and analysis of various financial reports requiring the selection and interpretation of data.
- Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
- Download and review electronic time for completeness and accuracy. Contact various department supervisors for any missed times.
- Determines payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes.
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Maintains payroll activities by following policies and procedures.
- May assist in the training and supervision of lower level accounting clerks.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
Position requires the completion of Associate's degree in a technical or non-technical field, or formal certification in a technical field obtained through college level courses or professional curriculum. This position typically requires 3-4 years related experience.
Responsibility
The job is responsible for following a series of logically and directly related orders, tasks and procedures while working under moderate supervision. The work sequence and specific assignments may vary on a daily or weekly basis. Work progress is reviewed less frequently and usually on a spot-check basis. Errors in work affect the accuracy or reliability of further processes or services.
Language Skill
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers of employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must demonstrate concern and take actions to meet requirements and high standards of quality of both internal and external customers. Must display courtesy and sensitivity.
