Summary
The Quality Specialist 3 plays a pivotal role in upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance within the aviation industry. This position supports the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring adherence to industry standards, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, and customer expectations. Key responsibilities include conducting inspections, audits, and documentation reviews, with a focus on continuous improvement and supplier quality management. Collaboration across departments and with external partners is essential to drive quality initiatives and maintain operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Quality Management System (QMS) Maintenance:
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and updating of QMS documentation to ensure compliance with AS9100 standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and audit internal processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to established quality protocols.
- Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to address non-conformances and enhance system effectiveness.

Supplier Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with suppliers to verify the quality of incoming parts and materials, ensuring they meet industry and customer standards.
- Participate in supplier evaluations, performance tracking, and assist in supplier development initiatives to enhance supply chain quality and reliability.
- Conduct supplier audits to assess compliance with contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements.

Auditing and Compliance:
- Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with aviation regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Identify, document, and report non-compliance issues, and assist in developing and implementing corrective action plans.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure continuous compliance.

Process Improvement and CAPA:
- Assist in implementing process improvement methodologies for existing and new procedures.
- Play an active role in the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process by organizing, monitoring, and reporting corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Perform root cause analyses using tools such as 8D, Ishikawa diagrams, and 5 Whys to identify underlying issues and implement effective solutions.

Nonconforming Product Management:
- Support the Material Review Board (MRB) process to ensure timely disposition of nonconforming products, reducing product scrap and delays.
- Analyze nonconformance data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Documentation and Records Management:
- Review and maintain accurate quality assurance documentation, including inspection records, certifications, and compliance reports.
- Ensure documentation meets FAA, AS9100, and ISO 9001 standards, and support the maintenance of document control systems.

Training and Support:
- Provide guidance and training to staff on quality assurance practices and procedures to foster a culture of quality excellence.
- Assist in developing training materials and programs to enhance understanding and implementation of quality standards.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations, Suppliers, and Customers, to address quality issues and implement effective solutions.
- Communicate quality-related data, metrics, and analyses to stakeholders and management to support informed decision-making.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience will be considered.
- 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in the aerospace or aviation industry.
- Familiarity with FAA regulations, AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar aviation quality standards.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and reading technical drawings/specifications.
- Experience with quality management systems and auditing processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and close-vision work for quality inspections and reporting.
- Occasional domestic and international travel to support audits, supplier assessments, and quality activities.
- Typical office environment with visits to manufacturing or supplier facilities as required.
