PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION
As a Commercial Account Associate, you will participate in a 5-month training program - learning what it means to become an effective Account Manager at Scott Insurance.
Through a mix of in-person and virtual sessions, you will learn commercial coverages, industry standards, and service clients using technologies such as Applied Epic. You will also spend time with mentors and aid the production teams in the processing of commercial business.
This will be an on-site position (5 days in-office per week) with travel to Lynchburg, VA every 2-3 weeks during the initial 5-month training period.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the management of commercial accounts, respond to client inquires, and determine appropriate marketing strategies for the placement of commercial business.
- Research new/unique coverage options and present findings to clients/management teams.
- Bind and issue policies, endorsements and audits.
- Prepare premium/loss analysis and modification analysis.
- Process new business/renewal applications, endorsements, certificates, cancellations, audits, check policies, and prepare proposals.
- Prepare binders, certificates of insurance, account summaries, endorsements, policies, lost policy releases, and account balance status and maintain expiration control log.
- Establish strong working relationships with clients, underwriters, and carriers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- BA/BS degree preferred - Risk Management & Insurance or Business desired.
- 1-3 years of risk management/insurance experience and/or a demonstrated interest in the insurance industry.
- Ability to obtain a Property & Casualty license within 90 days of employment.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive and Outlook).
- Strong communication/relationship building skills.
- Excellent time management/analytical skills and the ability to effectively prioritize.
