The Chief Merchandising Officer will lead the strategic direction for R2Net’s merchandising function, focusing on driving product innovation, assortment planning, and pricing strategies to elevate the brands within the diamond and fine jewelry space. This executive will balance the nuances of managing a multi-brand portfolio while driving e-commerce excellence and optimizing inventory management across global markets. The CMO will work cross-functionally with product development, design, marketing, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of merchandising strategies, ultimately positioning R2Net's brands of James Allen & Blue Nile as leaders in the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute a customer-focused merchandising strategy that aligns with R2Net’s multi-brand portfolio, focusing on delivering product assortments that meet consumer preferences and drive growth.
- Spearhead innovative product assortment strategies, collaborating closely with the Product Development and Design teams to bring compelling collections to market.
- Oversee the development of pricing strategies that maximize profitability, maintain competitiveness, and align with the distinct value propositions of each brand.
- Drive all e-commerce merchandising initiatives, ensuring the online shopping experience is seamless, intuitive, and tailored to customer expectations to convert browsers into loyal customers.
- Leverage global opportunities to position R2Net’s brands as leaders in international markets, adapting product assortments to meet regional preferences and trends.
- Optimize inventory strategies to balance product availability with demand, ensuring efficient use of capital and minimizing excess inventory.
- Utilize customer insights, sales data, and market trends to inform merchandising strategies, ensuring they are aligned with customer expectations and business objectives.
- Collaborate with product, marketing, technology, finance, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of merchandising strategies and optimize resource allocation.
- Build and lead a high-performing, innovative merchandising team, fostering a collaborative environment that drives accountability and excellence.
- Oversee key vendor relationships, ensuring product quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery, while negotiating favorable terms to drive business growth.
- Manage the merchandising budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and maximizing ROI on all product development, assortment planning, and pricing initiatives.
- Continuously monitor industry trends, customer behavior, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and stay ahead of the competition.
- 15 years of merchandising and planning experience, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role within specialty retail, luxury, or e-commerce industries.
- Proven expertise in strategic merchandising and product assortment planning, with a strong ability to manage a multi-brand portfolio across different market segments.
- E-commerce merchandising expertise, with a focus on driving online product assortment strategies, inventory management, and pricing.
- Extensive experience in pricing strategy, ensuring competitive and profitable product offerings while aligning with brand positioning.
- Deep knowledge of inventory management, optimizing stock levels and minimizing excess inventory while ensuring product availability.
- Strong background in global merchandising, with demonstrated success in adapting assortments for diverse markets and customer segments.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to use data to make strategic decisions that drive growth and customer satisfaction.
- Leadership experience, with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of the diamond and fine jewelry industry is highly preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant merchandising software/tools.

Annual base pay: $250,000 - $300,000. Final pay rate shall be determined and is based on experience and qualifications.
