Design and Sales Consultant

Job Opportunity: Design and Sales Consultant at James B. Batts Distributing Co. - Greenville Location

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Design and Sales Consultant to join our team at James B. Batts

Distributing Co. in Greenville. As an essential member of our sales team, you will play a critical role in

delivering outstanding interior design and product expertise to our customers, enhancing sales through

exemplary customer service and in-depth product knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide design advice and product expertise to customers, facilitating tile and stone selection

and project support to ensure seamless sales and completion of customer projects

• Log all customer showroom visits, contact information, detailed customer preference and

selection notes to maintain accurate records and ensure effective follow-up

• Communicate effectively with customers and team members to ensure sales closure, and

maintain a positive customer experience

• Report sales closures monthly

• Maintain showroom samples and displays

• Ship customer samples as needed to drive sales

• Maintain contact with suppliers and vendors to stay current on design and product offerings,

including new product launches and drops

Required Competencies:

• Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to boost client satisfaction and

cultivate long-term loyalty. Engage customers with personalized inquiries to gain insights into

their expectations. Employ a meticulous approach, emphasizing thoroughness and keen

attention to detail in every customer interaction.

• Product and Interior Design Expertise: Exhibit extensive understanding of a wide range of

materials, tile installation techniques, and manufacturing processes. Possess in-depth knowledge

of various tile brands and their distinctive product offerings. Remain updated on the latest

design trends and demonstrate adeptness in color coordination. Showcase creative problem-

solving skills that foster innovative design concepts and solutions.

• Communication: Proficient in articulating thoughts and information clearly and effectively

during conversations. Experienced in composing clear and concise documentation and emails.

Capable of actively listening to clients and team members to fully comprehend their needs and

concerns. Skilled at fostering positive relationships and rapport with customers, colleagues, and

management through effective communication techniques.

• Computer Skills: Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word and

Excel, as well as QuickBooks.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand regularly and utilize hands for a variety of tasks, including reaching with

both hands and arms.

• Frequently requires walking, stooping, and kneeling as part of daily activities.

• May occasionally need to sit for extended periods while performing desk duties.

• Capable of lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 25 pounds as needed.
