The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing various aspects of the HR function within the organization. This includes recruitment, onboarding, performance management, payroll administration, employee relations, training, and compliance with employment laws. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR management, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of HR best practices.
Recruiter/HR Generalist Essential Duties:
- Administers health and welfare plans including enrollments and terminations. Benefit programs include: 401(k) retirement plan, medical/dental, short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, workers’ compensation, leave of absence, Health Savings Account.
- Acts as liaison with various insurance carriers and fosters effective relationships with client representatives.
- Processes requests through Employee Navigator Benefits Administration and insurance and retirement providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions.
- Ensures all eligible employees enroll or decline benefits in a timely manner.
- Reconciles 401k contributions and loan repayments.
- Serves as the Cobra Administrator for company.
- Prepares new hire personnel files.
- Maintains accurate electronic and paper personnel, medical and I-9 employee files.
- Processes all employee status changes in HRIS and retains paper records in employee personnel files.
- Assists in new employee orientations to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions as well as the HR policies. Counsels employees on insurance plan provisions so that individuals can informed benefit decisions.
- Manages annual open enrollment each year. Arranges for distribution of materials from carriers, assists with, communicating changes to employees and arranges for on-site representation by providers. Conducts employee presentations.
- Reviews billings for accuracy. Resolves discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company. Completes reports for management as requested.
- Strives to ensure employee understanding of benefit programs by, regularly generating communication and counseling employees/dependents as situations arise. Resolves employee complaints related to health and welfare plans, refers difficult or very complex complaints to director as needed.
- Manages workers’ compensation claims and leaves for the Group.
- Manages FMLA and Non-FMLA Medical and Personal Leave of Absence Policy.
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum of three years of previous experience in a human resources role required. General knowledge of HR laws, practices and policies required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal. Comfortable giving presentations to both large and small groups.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Previous experience with Employee Navigator systems and timekeeping systems strongly preferred.
- Able to maintain the highest degree on confidentiality and professional discretion.
- Able to multi-task, communicate progress and meet deadlines.
- Must have strong organizational skills & attention to detail.
- Must have strong ability to multitask.
