James H. Cole Home for Funerals is looking for a dependable, talented, and professional Driver to join our growing team in an on-call/as needed capacity. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting families during their loved one’s Funeral Service in a safe, comfortable, and timely manner. To be considered for this role, you will need to have a valid chauffeur’s driver’s license with a clean driving record and no traffic violations. Experience driving for funerals and/or professional companies is highly desired.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Represent James H. Cole Home For Funerals with a high level of professionalism, dignity, pride and care.
- Provide support and professional transportation services to families during their loved one’s funeral service.
- Arranging regular fueling of the vehicle at our designated station.
- Provide Manager and team with updates on needed repairs and/or vehicle services.
- Provide help with planning each route based on road and traffic conditions.
- Ability to drive a limousine and safely lead a funeral processional.
- On occasion, the ideal candidate must be willing and able to transport the deceased from place of death to the Northwest Chapel location.
- All other duties as assigned to provide Funeral Support during shift.
Required Skills:
- Experience driving limousines and sedan for processionals, large groups and/or events.
- Familiarity with Metro-Detroit and outlining suburbs as well as operating driving navigation systems.
- Ability to manage time and trip schedule information in accordance with JHC expectations and guidelines.
- Ability to check and be aware of vehicles maintenance needs.
- Ability to track and document applicable information such as mileage, incident/accident reports.
- Ability to work as a part of a team.
- Positive attitude and work ethic.
- Ability to sit, stand and walk during shift, services and repast on occasion
Education and/or Experience:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
- Previous experience driving for funeral services or professional events and clients.
