As the Software Asset Manager at James Hardie, you will support the day-to-day activities associated with the organization’s IT assets, ensuring operational efficiencies and data completeness through the full lifecycle of IT assets across a hybrid environment (cloud and on-prem).
What You’ll Do:
- Handling key relationships with peer roles across the enterprise, including Business Application Owners, Central Engineering, Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Teams as well as Software Product Owners, and Procurement representatives.
- Being accountable for ensuring new entitlement purchases, true-ups, and maintenance renewals, including maintaining the entitlement data in ServiceNow
- Collaborating to ensure licensing contracts are optimized based on usage and predicted consumption.
- Understanding the impact of maintenance/assurance, support contracts, and requirements.
- Leading analysis, design, and requirements for IT SAM process improvements and feature enhancements.
- Handling lifecycle stages of software assets from initial request, purchasing, deployment, maintenance, through removal from service.
- Ensuring the quality of software asset records within ServiceNow’s SAM Pro module, including Software Discovery Models, Software Product Models, and Software Entitlements.
- Discovering and establishing a full inventory of software deployed.
- Identifying and correlating hardware and devices of the deployed software.
- Identifying the number of licenses, licensing scheme/type, and utilization of each discovered software.
- Identifying publishers for whom we do not have full license spend and seeing high-level where we are non-compliant.
- Identifying licensed applications, and identifying vendor, count, cost per license, and current license holders. Categorizing all license usage: assigned in-use, assigned unused, unassigned, expired.
- Developing and analyzing reconciliation reports to resolve required actions to address non-compliant software installations.
- Performing reconciliation by comparing entitlements with discovered software installations to resolve effective license positions for each in-scope publisher

What You’ll Bring:
- 3 years experience leading day-to-day operational activities for a Software Asset Management (SAM) program.
- 5 Experience managing IT assets throughout their full lifecycle
- Solid understanding of software licensing models, including for large vendors (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, Autodesk etc.).
- 3 years experience with asset discovery tools and managing associated data (ServiceNow SAM Pro preferred); to analyze and identify potential gaps.
- Significant experience with SAM-related platforms, tools, and integrations - including ServiceNow ITAM, ITOM, ITSM.
- 3 years experience as a member of vendor audit activities, including leading software publisher audits to closure.
- Undergraduate degree, or equivalent experience.
- Self-motivated teammate who brings energy, enthusiasm, and intellectual curiosity to the role.
- Outstanding execution skills and attention to detail.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills.
- Subject matter expert on using the ServiceNow SAM Pro module
- Effective in finding opportunities for improvement, prioritizing options, and recommendations.
What You’ll Receive:
As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $85,500 - $110,000 per year. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits, and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
