What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal) position at James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn?
James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn seeks motivated candidates to serve as counselors in its popular TEAM Summer program for eight weeks in July and August of 2025. Training will begin on June 23, 2025 and camp ends on August 22, 2025. The summer camp counselor role is temporary and is a 40 hour per week position. Candidates should have a positive outlook, be energetic and excited to work with children, and be available for the full 9 weeks.
Responsibilities:
- Together with a co-counselor and a high school intern, ensure the health and safety of TEAM Summer campers throughout their entire day, including arrival, departure, transitions, activities, lunch, and swimming.
- Plan fun and education activities in one-hour blocks throughout the day, including the implementation of Summer Brain Gain and SMART Moves.
- Establish and enforce group norms using a positive approach to behavior management.
- Communicate with children's parents/caregivers daily to provide an update on how the child's day was spent and any achievements made.
- Serve as a positive role model to campers and ensure that they have FUN!
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR/First Aid Certification (JLM Boys & Girls Club can help obtain)
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude
- Clear, effective communication skills
- Ability to adapt to change
