Kennel Tech/Vet Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of animal husbandry practices. This role involves providing daily care for animals, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and assisting veterinary staff as needed. The Kennel Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of our furry clients while supporting the overall operations of our facility.

Duties

• Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
• Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff.
• Assist with animal catheterization and restraint during examinations or procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to veterinary technicians or management.
• Support front desk operations by greeting clients and answering basic inquiries when needed.
• Assist in laboratory tasks as required, including sample collection and preparation.
• Participate in training programs to enhance skills in animal care and handling.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a kennel or veterinary setting is preferred but not mandatory.
• Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and basic animal care principles.
• Familiarity with medication administration protocols is an asset.
• Ability to perform animal restraint techniques safely and effectively.
• Strong communication skills to interact with team members and clients professionally.
• A commitment to maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
• Must be able to lift moderate weights and be on your feet for extended periods.

Pay: $11.62 - $12.26 per hour
