General Information
The Office of Financial Reporting seeks an Accountant to join us in supporting the University’s mission by producing reliable, timely financial information and transactions. We are a customer-service oriented office with a strong commitment to quality, integrity, and professionalism.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Monitor and update budget/actual activity in selected university departments monthly and/or quarterly.
- Maintain department ID numbers and related attributes in the finance system.
- Reconcile small purchase credit card transactions monthly.
- Provide support and serve as backup to the Reports Accountant.
- Daily processing of accounting transactions within the Finance system and the state accounting system (Cardinal).
- Assist in the development of the University’s financial statements.
- Reconcile portions of the Finance system to the state accounting system (Cardinal) monthly.
Required:
- General working knowledge of accounting principles as defined by GAAP as well as a general working knowledge of office procedures and practices.
- The ability to work independently with minor supervision and to work effectively with other employees both within the department and across the University community as a whole.
- Work effectively under pressure when necessary to meet deadlines, etc.
- Computer experience is required, with a focus in Excel or other spreadsheets preferred.
