General Information :

University Recreation (UREC) at James Madison University (JMU) is accepting applications for a part-time Fiscal Technician to provide fiscal and administrative support to the UREC Business Operations Team. The mission of UREC is to promote and advance healthy lifestyles through educational programs, participation opportunities and supportive services. UREC's qualified staff is committed to excellence and responsive to the

developmental needs of their participants.

Duties and Responsibilities :

The UREC Fiscal Technician will assist the UREC Business Operations team with student payroll, travel, reconciliations and budget and administrative support.

Specific duties and responsibilities include :

  • Reconcile monthly transactions and Small Purchase Credit Cards
  • Data entry of transactions into access spreadsheets
  • Assist with department purchasing and enter into state-wide procurement system (eVA)
  • Process all UREC and Sport Club vehicle requests
  • Assist with receiving packages
  • Perform Timeclock data entry
  • Provide backup for travel reimbursements through Chrome River
  • Other duties include providing customer service to visitors, staff and callers in an administrative office setting, attending UREC full staff meetings, and serving as back-up administrative support for the UREC Business Operations Team as needed.
  • Qualifications : Required :

  • Experience in one or more of the following : bookkeeping, travel, budgeting, reconciliation and payroll
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Additional Considerations :

  • Familiarity with Windows 7 and / or 10, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Access and Word
  • Familiarity with JMU financial, travel and other administrative regulations and policies
  • Familiarity with Chrome River, eVA and PeopleSoft Finance
  • Customer service experience

    Conditions of Employment :

    Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

    This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
