Qualifications: DME: DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT EXPERIENCED BILLING SPECIALIST ONLY APPLY
- High school diploma.
- Previous billing and collections experience preferred.
- Ability to file, perform accounting functions, maintain records, understanding of reimbursement requirements, good typing and telemarketing skills.
- Skills: Basic MS Excel, Word and 10-key skills required.
- General knowledge of government, regulatory and JAMES MEDICAL billing and compliance regulations/policies for Medicare, Medicaid, preferred
- Two years experience in insurance office, doctor's office or three years general office experience.
- High school education required
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledgeable in all major insurance carrier reimbursement guidelines and eligibility for coverage by third party payers.
- Must have DME Experience Required

Required Knowledge/Experience:
- Knowledge of computers and telephone
- Knowledge of medical billing system preferred.
- 2-4 year’s DME billing Required Data entry, accounting or customer service experience also required.

- Occasionally lift/move items up to 20 pounds
Duties and Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, follows up on A/R that is 90 days old and coordinates collection of the same.
- Addresses denial and non-payments to correct and resume correct billing or identify how to correct billing and forwards to the appropriate personnel for payment.
- Works with weekly and monthly reports to keep all billing current and accurate.
- Works with weekly and monthly reports and keeps payers current.
- Consults with supervisor regarding any billing problems.
- Other tasks as assigned and comply with all applicable JAMES MEDICAL policies and procedures.
- Responsible for billing private insurances, private individuals and/or Government entities for home medical equipment.
- Understand and comply with all governmental, regulatory and JAMES MEDICAL billing and compliance regulations/policies including but not limited to Medicare and Medicaid programs
- Follow-up with payers, patients and other appropriate parties to collect open billings in a timely manner and to ensure compliance with billing regulations.
- Identify and report to management payer issues with regards to billing and collection
- Establish patient records and record appropriate patient and equipment rental information in each patient's record.
- Review and log correspondence regarding pending/denied claims
- Assist with implementation of quality improvement program to meet JAMES MEDICAL and accreditation standards.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of current DME products and services offered by the Branch and all applicable insurance guidelines respecting eligibility for coverage and reimbursement.
