Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, early bird to oversee weekend service at the Blue Heron. Blue Heron is a 50 seat cafe serving a la carte breakfast in The James Newbury Hotel featuring a full bar. This person will be the server/bartender on Fri/Sat/Sun morning. Taking orders and making all beverages.
Duties
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes and guest preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including washing glassware and utensils.
- Engage with customers to provide outstanding service, taking orders, answering questions about the menu, and making recommendations.
- Restocking the bar at the end of each shift.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service of food and beverages.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently using basic math skills.
- Work with the front desk team to process any hotel guest room charges, or breakfast vouchers.
- Uphold health and safety regulations in accordance with local laws and company policies.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in the food industry or restaurant setting is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on guest relations.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic culinary knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with sales techniques to promote specialty drinks or menu items is beneficial.
- Must be of legal drinking age as per local regulations.
