What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at James River Cardiology?
James River Cardiology is looking for an experienced CMA/RMA/CCMA/CNA for our Emporia office. Please note the first 2 weeks of training will be held at our Colonial Heights office and may require travel to our other offices on a PRN basis.
The ideal candidate should have at least one year of recent experience in examination and treatment of cardiology patients under the direction of a Physician/NP/PA.
Job Description:
- Interview patients, measure vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height) and record information in EMR. Review medication records, including medication names, dosage and frequency. Applying and administering 12-lead EKG (basic knowledge of rhythms and any indications to notify provider is a plus). Applying and managing holter monitors as well as MCOT device application. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients. Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs. Inform patients care being provided and provides basic information from the provider on disease process and management. Type routine encounter notes and reports from the EMR and/or reviewed testing. Apply proper coding to encounters to ensure MIPS compliance and billing compliance. Answer telephones, screen callers, relay messages and greet visitors.
Pay is hourly, rate is negotiable is based on previous cardiac experience.

Required Qualifications:
Certification as a Medical Assistant and/or Nursing Assistance; current BLS certification.
Locations:
Emporia with PRN coverage to our Franklin/Lawrenceville offices.
Schedule:
40 hours weekly/no nights/no weekends/no on call
