Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Head of School for Finance & Operations, the Facilities Manager maintains overall responsibility for the School’s buildings and grounds, including plant services, maintenance, and renovations for a 53,000 GSF facility, landscaping for a 12-acre property, campus security, transportation, housekeeping, and special event setups.

Essential Functions:
- Schedules and oversees ongoing preventive maintenance and inspection of all systems, including HVAC equipment, roofs, finishes, safety and monitoring systems, School vehicles, and other equipment as required.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including work and environmental safety regulations.
- Serves as primary School liaison to all third-party maintenance contractors and manages the fulfillment of their contractual obligations, including quality control. Arranges bids and develops specifications when necessary.
- Oversees maintenance of all School vehicles and maintains proper record keeping.
- Manages and oversees morning and afternoon bus routes and drivers as required.
- Manages responses to all facility work orders originating from building users, using established tracking systems (Get It Done), and develops new processes as appropriate.
- Organizes, schedules, and supervises all repair and construction projects, with sensitivity to School seasonality and operational need.
- Collaborates with School leadership to understand unique needs and maintains quality support to the mission (special events, athletics, aftercare, playground equipment, lunchroom set-up, security, etc.).
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School or designee to support the School and its leadership.
Other Responsibilities:
- Oversees School transportation needs, including daily routes and special events (e.g., athletics, field trips). Inspects all vehicles regularly, keeps them clean and in working order, and maintains vehicle safety and inspection reports.
- Provides facilities support to campus events (e.g., setups and takedowns).
- Ensures that the grounds/landscape are kept in good condition at all times. This includes snow and ice removal as well as tree and lawn care.
- Responds in a timely manner to all work order requests.
- Remains committed to the School’s needs and ready to respond 24/7/365 as reasonable and necessary.
- Recommends measures to improve methods and equipment performance to increase efficiencies.
Job Requirements
- A college or trade school degree or equivalent experience is required.
- A commercial driver's license is required.
- Technical experience of three to five years preferred. Related experience could entail construction, plant engineer, facility management, or similar experience.
- Proven contractor management experience, with aptitude to judge performance quality in all major technical trades, and personal experience in at least one technical trade (carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural).
- Computer skills, including knowledge of Word and Excel and similar reporting platforms, along with aptitude for operating building automation systems.
- Excellent Communication skills, both oral and written, and confidence in conveying information to all types of members of the community, including teachers, administrators, trustees, parents, and students.
- Experience working in an educational setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift equipment and materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to crawl, climb ladders, twist, turn, and reach to complete a variety of jobs.
- Ability to work outside in hot or cold conditions for extended periods.
