Part-Time Curriculum Cosmetology Instructor (Weekday)

The Cosmetology Instructor prepares for and teaches assigned courses; evaluates student progress and provides academic advising; maintains necessary records and performs other job-related duties. The position reports to the Dean of Business and Industry.Â

• Meets and holds day classes as scheduled;
• Provides assistance to students;
• Refers students to other college staff when necessary;
• Prepares, implements and evaluates student learning outcomes of courses taught based upon program outcomes;
• Keeps current on subject matter and teaching methodologies;
• Maintains student records and monitors student progress;
• Completes and submits institutional reports in a timely manner;
• Participates/assists with coordination of specific program/course management; Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
• Continuously analyzes and evaluates instructional results to improve instruction and evaluation of student progress;
• Provides supervisor with copy of all course SLOs and SLO assessments.
• Provides supervisor with copy of all current course syllabi;
• Assists with connecting program learning outcomes to institutional competencies;
• Conducts on-going self-evaluations to improve instructional techniques and methodologies;
• Provides assistance in implementing the College's Program Review process and recommendations;
• Â Promotes a positive image of the College;
• Engages in professional development activities;
• Assists students with career opportunities;Â
• Acquires computer/technology competencies as appropriate to position;
• Maintains security of personal computer access;
• Performs other professional or job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Â Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities.Â

Requirements

Education/Skills

Required: Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution; Current NC Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners Cosmetology license; Current NC Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners Instructor License; Â Good communication skills.Â

Preferred: Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in Cosmetology. Â Bilingual.

Experience

Required: Â Five or more years of directly related work experience as a Licensed Cosmetologist.

Preferred:Â Some teaching experience at the community college level.Â
