Position Title: Utility Foreman 1
Reports to: Utility Superintendent
Status: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides leadership and is responsible for, but not limited to, supervision of on-site employees, ensuring the safety of all employees, following OSHA guidelines, planning and scheduling, productivity, quality control and ensuring that all deadlines are met
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Creates work schedule for all on-site employees
- Communicates the job to the crew
- Ensures that all machinery and tools are available to the crew and everything is in proper order and state of maintenance
- Ensures periodic maintenance and proper storage of construction equipment and tools
- Practices workplace safety
- Performs inspections to ensure that the crew’s performance is up to standard
- Completes all daily and weekly reports as required and in a timely manner
- Handles onsite incidents and emergencies in a proactive manner
- Knows, understands, communicates and ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies and procedures
- Facilitates mandatory safety tool box meetings
- Able to pass a 3 year MVR in order to drive a company vehicle
- Maintains positive relationships with other employees
- Can Operate all equipment to the level of an operator 3
- Can set up, grade check, and troubleshoot GPS on rover, dozer, and trackhoe
- Ability to fully comprehend and understand plans and details
- Can schedule out tasks to employees and schedule out a “2 week” look ahead for projects
- Ability to understand requirements for different municipalities and owners and document the necessary tasks to get the job completed
- Able to complete tasks with little supervision while running a 3-5 man crew
- Adheres to all company policies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Skills, Abilities, Knowledge):
- High school or equivalent
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to handle equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Ability to analyze and problem solve
- Good decision-making skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check
WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The job is usually performed outdoors on multiple jobsites with some office work. Ability to communicate orally with clients, candidates, management, and coworkers, both individually and in front of a group is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Requires good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, copier/scanners). No heavy lifting is expected; exertion of up to 30 lbs. of force (e.g., tablet, laptop, computers, office supplies) may occasionally be required. Work hours are Monday – Thursday 7 am to 5 pm and Friday 7 am to 3 pm.
