Position Description:
Full-time laboratory coordinator to support the operations of science and nursing laboratories for multiple class sections of freshman and sophomore biology, chemistry, and nursing on the Cattaraugus County Campus. Responsibilities include set up and take down of labs, maintenance of laboratory equipment, monitoring inventory and ordering supplies, overseeing lab assistants and student workers as assigned, implementing and maintaining the chemical hygiene plan campus-wide. Frequent communication and collaboration with faculty and other lab technicians is expected.

Qualifications:
Required: Academic background in biology and/or chemistry laboratory courses with a minimum of an associate degree in biology, chemistry, laboratory technology, or related field. Demonstrated potential to perform general biology, cell and molecular biology, microbiology, and chemistry laboratory skills and gain knowledge of OSHA & EPA regulations. Able to operate basic laboratory equipment. Familiarity with Microsoft and Google software. Attention to detail and accuracy, initiative and ability to work independently and interdependently, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service is imperative.
Preferred: Bachelors degree (or higher) in biology, chemistry, laboratory technology or related field with at least 2 years of experience in a lab setting OR an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to demonstrate ability to perform the job. Proven ability to use techniques specific to general biology, chemistry, and microbiology. Experience with aseptic technique, microbiology media preparation, and operation of autoclave. Demonstrable knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
Additional Information:
Salary: $27.86-$31.07/hour Excellent benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and NYS retirement.
