Teacher Assistant, full time, One-one-One middle school assignment
All Teacher Assistants:
General Duties: This position requires work of an instructional nature in a classroom setting with individuals and/or small groups of students, some of whom may have mental, physical and/or emotional disabilities. Responsibilities: The primary duty of the Teacher Assistant is to assist in student learning and behavior management by carrying out duties deemed necessary by the immediate Supervisor or Administrator including: working with small groups of children with special needs; facilitating behavior intervention plans; assisting in the academic support in one on one and small group situations to support and facilitate learning. Work involves the development of an effective relationship with children having special needs. Maintain accurate records. Reproduce and maintain files of learning materials for use in the classroom. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work with students and educators in a sensitive and effective manner. Learn assigned duties readily and adhere to prescribed classroom procedure. Perform related work as required. Carry out duties deemed necessary by the immediate Administrator or Supervisor such as: lunch/recess duty; reasonable classroom coverage; small group work with children; inventories; correcting papers; assist in carrying out PT/OT programs under the supervision of licensed therapists (when necessary). Performs other duties as assigned by the building administrator.
In the event of the absence of a bus monitor, teacher assistants will act as a monitor in the bus loading zone area.
