Job Duties
This position assists the Director of Safety & Security in the administration of the 24-hour, seven-day-a-week safety and security surveillance program for Jamestown Settlement, American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, Central Support Complex, and all Foundation buildings and properties. This includes assisting in the supervision of the contract security staff, providing technical expertise to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the Foundation’s security, fire , and life safety systems and conducting safety periodic inspections.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven expertise and experience in the operation, maintenance, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of security surveillance, fire detection/suppression and other life safety systems is required.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Technical knowledge needed to operate, maintain, diagnose, and troubleshoot circuit television systems (CCTV).
- Familiarity with OSHA/VOSH regulations and fire codes
- Strong computer skills, required for systems programming and maintenance and staff training including Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, required for training staff and communicating effectively with the public and staff at all levels of the Foundation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within prescribed timelines.
- Ability to work independently on assigned projects, while keeping director informed of activities and issues.
- Project a professional and positive manner when dealing with both internal and external customers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., walk for extended periods, climb heights of 15 feet and operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including some weekends, holidays and evenings as assignments require.
Additional Considerations
- Experience in law enforcement, security or related field is desired.
