Assistant Manager Job Description
Position Overview:
As an Assistant Manager, you will drive Jan’s values within the stores. Creating a warm community/neighborly environment where all feel welcome – not only for our guests but for our employees. Your responsibilities include everything from mentoring team members to managing all front and back of house operations.
Responsibilities:
Assistant Manager responsibilities include and are not limited to:
- Problem solver, quick thinker, and a skilled communicator.
- Lead by example and a role model for the standards and behaviors consistent with Jan’s core values and culture.
- Consistent communication with team regarding team wins, priorities, best practices, and operational changes to deliver brilliant execution.
- Serve as a role model for high quality, hands-on, floor management.
- Ensure that food, security, and store safety standards are met and adhered to consistently.
- Address performance issues quickly and respectfully by coaching, counseling, and managing any conflicts.
- Contribute ideas, thoughts, and solutions that result in increased productivity, higher retention, and improved operations.
- Assist the Store Manager with cost of goods (COGS), managing labor and inventory.
- Management is required to work open and closing shifts and work at least one day on the weekend. Whatever the needs are for the store.
- Understanding of Jan’s policies and the ability to enforce with poise.
- Anticipate the needs of the Store & Kitchen Manager - Take initiative.
Restaurant Management: 2 years (Preferred)
