Schedule:       M-Th – 6am – 4:30pm, overtime as requested on Fridays

POSITION SUMMARY

The Machine Operator operates computer numerically controlled machines such as a lathe or mill to cut, grind, drill or shape metal.  The goal of the machining department is to maintain a safe work environment and produce quality parts as efficiently as possible.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Perform standard and repetitive sequences on parts.

·         Adjust machine and fixture stops to maintain tolerance requirements.

·         Recognize and report any program/machine malfunctions.

·         Deburr parts that come out of the lathe to create a smooth surface.

·         Operate the drill press to prepare parts for final assembly.

·         Check machine inserts regularly and change as needed so that parts are machined accurately.

·         Use various measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to perform all dimensional inspections and document as required.

·         Comply with safety procedures and rules.

·         Maintain a safe, clean, and neat work area.

·         Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned.

·         Willing to assist in other areas of production as needed.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:  High school Diploma

Experience:  Metal fabrication manufacturing environment with 6 months experience operating a CNC machine, preferred.

Computer Skills:  Basic knowledge of a computer or cell phone is helpful.

·         Blueprint Reading

• Read measurement tools: calipers, micrometers and tape measure.
• Operate tools: disc grinder, allen wrench, bore gauge, and various hand tools

Work is performed on the shop floor which is not climate controlled.
