What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Residential Program Guidance Counselor position at Jane Street?
About the PositionWe're looking for a compassionate individual who can provide environmental and emotional support to participants in our 5-week residential, academic summer program in New York City. You will be present for all daily classes and social activities, and will live on-site with our students for the duration of the program. You will act as a resident director and help manage dormitory supplies, curfew check-in, conflict resolution, and any after-hours situations that arise. You will be able to handle student issues with discretion, compassion, and will document pertinent information with the correct Jane Street channels.Providing a phenomenal program experience is important to us. You will collaborate closely with our teams across recruiting, human resources, and physical security to ensure that the program environment is safe, positive, and supportive. This is a temporary, full-time position with evening and weekend responsibilities. This program will run from the end of June through the beginning of August.About YouBachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, social work or related field; further advanced degree preferred (in-progress welcome, too)Mature and professional; handles information with sensitivity and careHas a positive, approachable personality and remains composed, prepared, and balanced in all interactions2 years experience working with high school studentsExperience in residential or camp settings preferredExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAvailable to live on campus during program duration
