Job Summary:
The Janitorial operations manager is responsible for overseeing the cleaning and maintenance operations of assigned buildings. This includes ensuring that all janitorial staff perform their duties to the highest standards, addressing customer needs, and maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment. The operations manager will conduct regular inspections, manage employee absences, provide training to new hires, and maintain positive relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect Buildings: Regularly inspect the cleanliness and condition of assigned buildings to ensure all areas meet or exceed cleanliness standards. Report any necessary repairs or maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
- Cover Employee Absences: Fill in for absent janitorial staff as needed to ensure the continuity of services. This may include performing general janitorial duties such as cleaning, floor care, and waste management.
- Train and Supervise Employees: Provide training and support for new employees on cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and equipment usage. Ensure that all janitorial staff are adhering to company standards and procedures.
- Maintain Positive Customer Relationships: Serve as the main point of contact for clients and address any concerns or requests regarding cleaning services. Maintain positive, professional relationships to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Floor Care: Oversee and assist with specialized floor care, including stripping and waxing floors, carpet cleaning, and floor buffing to maintain their appearance and longevity.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all staff follow safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Inventory and Supplies Management: Monitor and manage cleaning supplies and equipment inventory to ensure that adequate supplies are available at all times. Order supplies as needed and ensure proper storage.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct periodic quality checks to ensure all tasks are completed to satisfaction. Provide feedback and corrective actions when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous janitorial experience, including floor care such as strip and wax, carpet cleaning, and floor buffing, is required.
- Supervisory Experience: Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a janitorial or facilities management setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of Cleaning Techniques: Familiarity with a variety of cleaning methods, tools, and equipment used in the industry.
- Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive relationships with clients and address their needs effectively.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform cleaning tasks for extended periods.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and a commitment to providing high-quality services.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Certifications: Any relevant cleaning or safety certifications are a plus (e.g., OSHA, CIMS, etc.).
- Valid drivers license: Must have a valid license with a clean MVR.
