Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Metal Finishing Technician to join our growing team.
This position is located on-site in Hamilton, Washington State.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Metal Finishing Technician is responsible for finishing, deburring, inspecting, and processing machined parts to meet quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in precision finishing techniques, basic machining operations, organizational skills, and an eye for detail to ensure high quality production.
The following essential job functions are performed as a Metal Finishing Technician:
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, and imperfections from machined parts using hand tools, power tools, and abrasives
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure compliance with specifications
- Prepare and clean parts for further processing, including chemical treatments, coatings, and assembly
- Operate basic machining equipment, such as drill presses, sanders, and grinders, to refine parts as needed
- Provide support making and storing cutting tool assemblies for CNC machines
- Preparing and storing fixtures and tooling for CNC Machining processes
- Attention to detail and quality is required
- Reads and understands blueprints, isometric drawings and work orders
- Receives and carries out directions from designated Cell Manager and Production Leads
- Must be able to understand and comply with Safety Practices
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly, FOD free condition
- Accurate use of precision measuring instruments (i.e.: micrometers, calipers, etc.,) and working to exact tolerances
- Compliance with 5S, AS9100 and Nadcap Standards and Practices
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. The incumbent shall, always demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
- Being at work on time and maintaining good attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
QUALIFICATIONS
- Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED required, college level or trade school education preferred.
- Experience in finishing, deburring, or machining operations in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments and interpret engineering drawings
- Familiarity with machining processes and part handling
- CNC machining or manual machining experience is a plus
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality inspections
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills for documenting work and referencing digital work instructions
- Knowledge and use of common hand tools
- Must have effective verbal and written communication skills
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Wage range for this role is between $20 to $45 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
