Job Overview
Part Time- Communications Director
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graphics Designer to support a communications contract with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In this role, you will design and deliver high-quality visual content that enhances communication efforts, aligns with DHS branding guidelines, and effectively conveys complex information to diverse audiences.
This is a hybrid position working part time on our client site within the District of Columbia/ Arlington Virginia and from your home office.
Location: Hybrid- Client site within District of Columbia/ Arlington Virginia 3 Days a week.
Clearance: Secret

QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS/BA in English, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ of demonstrated experience:
- Assisting in development of communications materials to build brand and product awareness through targeted media campaigns.
- Engaging in advertising planning and placement for all media, both offline and online
- Strong knowledge of federal communication regulations, including Section 508 and branding guidelines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
- Active SECRET clearance
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing graphic design support as identified for publications, presentations, fact sheets, reports and other communications materials to enhance understanding of CISA mission and programs.
- Identifying and executing marketing techniques that have demonstrated effectiveness among audiences, such as social marketing, grassroots marketing, partnership marketing, and marketing specific to segments or markets in order to advance digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness.
- Conducting research to gain insight into approaches for raising public awareness of cybersecurity, to include evaluating behavior change marketing campaigns from other disciplines and applying such research to inform evidence-based targeting of messaging and information.
- Developing and executing communications strategies and associated products (tool kits, releases, blogs, social media content, infographics and events) to advance and promote cybersecurity actions aligned with relevant observed months and days, to include National Cyber Security Awareness Month (October), Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month (November), Internet Safety Month (June), Safer Internet Day (February), and Data Privacy Day (January), as well as seasonal opportunities (Cyber Monday, New Years’ resolutions, etc.).
- Oversee the creation and distribution of all communication materials, including press releases, reports, multimedia content, and internal communications.
- Ensure materials adhere to DHS branding and accessibility standards, including Section 508 compliance.
- All candidates are required to take a 10-minunite Hartman Value Profile assessment to ensure compatibility with our corporate culture and ethos. This position will require a minimum of a SECRET clearance and if you do not have one and should you be the selected candidate, we will ask our client to sponsor you for a clearance. In the event that your clearance is not approved, it may result in termination of employment.
