Overview
This position combines welding and general maintenance responsibilities with a focus on traveling to various job sites. The role involves performing routine maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment and facilities, as well as using hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld, repair, or join metal components.
Responsibilities
- Travel to job sites as required, providing on-site maintenance support.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as work order management and reporting.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and materials used.
- Manage and maintain tools, parts, and equipment inventory to ensure readiness for assigned tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, always adhering to safety protocols.
- Coordinate and execute repairs or installations of equipment and components, including metal structures and machinery.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment, tools, and facilities.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on-site, ensuring minimal downtime for operations.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
- Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld, join, or repair metal components or fill holes, indentations, or seams in fabricated metal products.
- Examine workpieces for defects and ensure they meet specifications using templates and measuring tools.
- Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, adjusting gas flow and pressure as needed.
- Maintain and operate equipment safely, following proper work habits to ensure a safe environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Vocational or technical certification preferred.
- Less than one year of previous work-related skills, knowledge, or experience required; maintenance and welding experience preferred.
- Proficiency in welding techniques, tools, and safety practices.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills for documentation and reporting.
- Travel is required: 75-100%.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly required to walk, stand, reach and bend.
