Key Responsibilities
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale system
- Assist in unloading and organizing plant shipments
- Create attractive displays to showcase our plants and products
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers with their gardening needs
- Maintain a clean and tidy retail area
- Assist customers in locating and retrieving gardening supplies, including soil, fertilizer, chemicals, pots, and tools
- Operate cash registers and perform cash handling duties accurately
- Maintain proper inventory levels and ensure items are restocked and well-stocked at all times
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient operation of the garden center
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation
- Answer customer inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and passion for gardening and plants
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks, lift heavy objects, work outdoors and in various weather conditions
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, customer-oriented attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of plant care, including watering, fertilizing and chemicals
- Previous experience in retail or customer service preferred
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
