Job Description
The Automotive Parts Specialist provides first-class assistance to walk-in customers and telephone traffic. He/she is extremely familiar with automotive products so as to accurately answer questions and satisfy customer requirements. The Parts Specialist expertly uses a computerized means to identify and locate automotive products from inventory. At times, he/she searches beyond inventory to locate parts not readily available and makes arrangements for prompt delivery. In addition to serving walk-in customers, the Parts Specialist provides needed parts to internal automotive technicians in order to support Service Center activities. He/She continuously monitors inventory in order to ensure immediate parts availability, within reason, and will also handle returns. The ideal Automotive Parts Specialist has a high school diploma, previous parts experience, and strong computer and internet skills and is genuinely interested in customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meets/greets customers in person or on phone
- Researches parts information through the Dealer Management System, Dealer Daily and Electronic Parts Catalog, or any other means necessary to obtain the solution
- Provides the parts and/or accessories in a timely fashion
- Provides clear and accurate information with regard to special-order parts
- Ensures deliveries are promptly received and notifies internal or external customers accordingly
- Maintains parts storage area in a clean and well-organized fashion
- Secures warranty parts, properly tags and sorts parts, and promptly returns to source
- Maintains current knowledge base in automotive parts and with changes in computer systems for automotive parts
- Understands that the customer is the source of all revenue and should be treated with utmost respect
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required; post secondary education or coursework desired
- Parts-provisioning experience in a wholesale or retail environment desired
- Broad scope of automotive mechanical/electrical knowledge
- Strong computer and internet skills (multiple platforms)
- An impressive work ethic
- Neat, clean, and professional appearance
- Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
- Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills
