We are currently seeking an experienced Contract Probate Attorney to join our team on a flexible, contract basis.
About the Role
This is a flexible, contract opportunity for a skilled Probate Attorney to support our estate administration team. The ideal candidate is a sole practitioner or independent contractor with a strong background in probate practice, capable of managing probate matters from start to finish. While the position allows for remote work, preference will be given to candidates in Central Ohio for ease of communication and occasional in-person collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and file probate pleadings, including petitions, inventories, and distributions.
- Manage case progress and maintain timely follow-through on all probate matters.
- Review estate planning documents and assist with post-death trust administration, as applicable.
- Maintain clear, professional communication with clients, team members, court personnel, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure all case files are compliant with firm procedures and remain on track.
- Deliver compassionate, client-centered service with a focus on empathy and responsiveness.
- Participate in firm workshops and client education seminars as needed.
Qualifications:
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and an active Ohio law license in good standing.
- At least 2 years of probate experience.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- A servant-leader mindset and team-oriented attitude.
- High personal accountability and commitment to quality work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with case management software.
- Experience with or willingness to learn WealthCounsel, ElderCounsel, and WealthDocs.
- Ability to train or mentor others and collaborate effectively.
- A professional, positive demeanor with strong emotional intelligence.
- Sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
