What are the responsibilities and job description for the North America Tender Manager position at JAS?
JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.
North America Tender Manager supporting pricing requests from global and regional RFQ teams, involving North America lanes, ensuring that proposals are submitted in a timely and accurate manner. This would involve coordinating with various teams, such as branch managers, US / CA air and US / CA product teams, to gather the necessary information and develop comprehensive pricing proposals.
Responsible for monitoring US / CA market trends, such as US / CA freight rates, capacity, and demand, to determine the optimal pricing strategy for Global and Regional RFQs and making recommendations to US senior management.
Responsible for monitoring pricing performance and making recommendations for pricing adjustments as needed. This would involve analyzing pricing data, identifying trends, and adjusting pricing strategies to optimize profitability and competitiveness.
In cooperation with US / CA Air and Ocean Product Teams, continues process improvement developing Mainfreight strategic database for Global and Regional RFQs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Collaborating with internal teams, such as sales, product, operations, and local pricing, to review RFQ proposals that meet customer requirements.
- Review customer RFQ requirement before assigning a tender lead.
- Collaborate with our Ocean Product team and provide best practices when handling RFQ.
- Being the subject matter expert on ocean freight development and market knowledge
- Support and lead top Global or Regional Accounts RFQs involving major North American lanes.
- Supporting tender lead bid with pre-bid and post-bid analysis, and presenting recommendations to senior management
- Support tender lead with Quality Checks
- Work closely with Global and Key Account Managers / in coming up with plans for RFQ and performing pre- and post-opportunity assessments.
- Develop a strong relationship during bid cycle -it's a team effort between the bid specialist and the commercial Owner.
- Follow up of RFQ as needed and communicate the positive or negative feedback in respect of being able to source the competitive rate to support the closure of all business opportunities
- Handle sensitive and / or confidential documents and information.
- Identify and summarize potential "red flags" (commercial / operational risks) in tender material.
- Perform final check on overall pricing and convert customer rate sheet into internal rate format
- Engage in non-RFQ opportunities when needed, such as RFQ avoidance exercises, pricing Refresh exercises, and additional Lanes quotes
- Review Post-mortem results of previous RFQ response & apply corrective measures

100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Travel will be (up to 10%) required in support of the position's responsibilities.
