Job description
SIGN ON BONUS: $1,000.00 BONUS PAID AFTER THE 90 DAY PROBATIONARY TIME.
Section 1 Identifying Information
Truck Driver Diesel Mechanic - Warehouse Position (Must have - CDL Class A)
Reports to: Management
Department: JDC Transportation
Prepared: February 28, 2025
Schedule: Sunday-Thursday
Pay: $70,000.00 -$75,000.00 per year, possibly more depending on experience.
Section 2 Position Purpose
This person is responsible for inspecting all incoming company owned/leased tractor and trailers to ensure they are safe and in compliance with DOT regulations. Additionally, they will be responsible for performing minor repairs and the coordination of sending tractor and trailers for repairs and preventative maintenance.
Section 3 Major Responsibilities
Repairs and Inspection (70%)
- MUST be willing to go out on Routes when the need arises.
- Inspecting all incoming company owned and leased trucks to ensure compliance with DOT regulations are being met.
- Responsible for documenting and reporting any driver violations found during a safety lane inspection to management.
- Coordinate the scheduling of preventative maintenance on equipment owned or leased at DMI- Distribution.
- Keep all equipment in a safe operational condition.
- Determine safety needs for working around heavy equipment.
- Confirm with the Fleet Maintenance Director that the correct tractor assignment to comply with Penske mileage lease agreement.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical equipment and make repairs on trailers and perform necessary repairs.
- Making minor repairs to warehouse and warehouse equipment.
- Order DEF and make sure trucks are full for routes.
Stage Trailers (20%)
- Work with Warehouse Supervisor on the accurate scheduling of correct trailer
- placement or movement in/from dock doors
Miscellaneous (10%)
- Keeping the parking lot and surrounding areas clean.
- Organizing parts and keeping maintenance records on all trucks and trailers.
- Coordinate with warehouse manager for equipment safety issues.
Section 4 Decision-Making
- Direct decision making required to determine diagnosis of vehicle complications, repairs and maintenance required on lease and company vehicles.
Section 5 Job Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Must be age 21 or over.
- Must have a Class A CDL
- Have a history of good driving during the past 3 years, as determined by a Texas Motor Vehicle Report including no convictions for DWI, and/or no more than two speeding violations, and/or no at fault accidents (or the applicant may have one at fault accident on their record if the accident is determined to be minor), and/or any combination of speeding violations and at fault accidents.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience preferred.
- Must be forklift certified or have the ability to obtain forklift certification.
- Must be willing to subject to pre-employment and random drug testing as a prerequisite of employment, because of the exposure to heavy equipment.
- Excellent organizational, time-management and communication skills.
- General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Google docs preferred.
Section 7 Other Information
- Ability to work in extreme heat or cold weather conditions.
