9-12 PEC Inclusion Teacher
BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE
Under general supervision, teaches in the field of certification and assists in other school programs as assigned. A teacher provides instruction, assesses student achievement and progress, manages the learning environment, and supports all aspects of the school and its programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides learning experiences and teaches the content and skills in applicable fields of certification/subject area(s) utilizing the curriculum as prescribed by the state and district
- Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students
- Differentiates instruction as defined by system expectations and procedures
- Encourages and supports students
- Establishes and maintains standards of student control required to achieve effective participation in all activities
- Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records
- Maintains a willingness to implement adopted changes
- Communicates clearly and effectively with students, parents, peers, and all other stakeholders
- Integrates available forms of technology into teaching and learning
- Teaches, facilitates, monitors, and supervises students
- Communicates clearly and positively with parents through a variety of options
- Demonstrates self-motivation
- Interacts with all stake holders in a positive manner
- Holds parent conferences to discuss the individual student's progress and interpret the school program
- Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems
- Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays such as displays of student work, required bulletin boards, interest centers, etc.
- Manages the learning environment, including the storage of materials, appropriate management and maintenance of technological resources, and storage of textbooks
- Maintains professional competence through staff development activities provided by the District and/or professional growth activities and university courses
- Participates cooperatively in an evaluation process as defined by District guidelines
- Selects and requisitions instructional materials; maintains inventory records
- Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities
- Participates in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities
- Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and practice
- Provides whole group, small group, and individualized instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of pupils with varying intellectual abilities and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
- Instructs students in the proper care and use of materials and equipment storage areas and controls use of materials and equipment to prevent loss or abuse
- Compiles, maintains, and submits all required reports in a timely manner
- Adheres to the Code of Ethics for Georgia Educators
- Implements IEPs, health related accommodations, and any behavioral intervention plans designed to support the success of individual students
- Works collaboratively in planning with subject area or grade level colleagues
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:
Valid Georgia certification authorizing service in grade levels and areas assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
Student teaching, Internship, or full-time teaching experience.
