What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietitian position at JASPER GENERAL HOSPITAL?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs the safe, economical and nutritional operation of the Food and Nutrition Department
Directly supervises the Dietary Manager and oversees the management of the food service staff.
Ensures that the department is adequately staffed and trained in food service and sanitation practices.
Completes nutritional assessments for hospital and nursing home patients and residents per established policies and practices.
Review monthly weights of residents and makes recommendations in reference to significant changes
Serves as a consultant for home health and assisted living facility
Plans Menus for the hospital, nursing home and assisted living facility, to include Regular and Therapeutic Diets per state and federal regulations
Collaborates with healthcare providers and nursing staff to deliver quality nutrition care.
Attends weekly patient care conference
Directs quality assurance for the department and attends monthly QA meetings.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Maintains compliance with all facility policies and procedures.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics (Required)
LD Licensure by Mississippi State Department of Health (Required)
RD Registry by Commission on Dietetics Registration (Desired)
ServSafe certification required.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
Experience:1 year of supervisory experience in hospital or long term care.
