What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Jasper R-5 School District?

Qualifications: High school diploma or the equivalent.
Essential Functions:
- Properly keep buildings and grounds neat and clean at all times, including sidewalks, driveways, playground
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop hallways and floors as needed throughout the buildings
- Dust furniture and other areas as needed
- Clean toilets, restroom sinks, floors, fixtures, and water fountains daily.
- Wash and clean windows both inside and out as needed
- Maintain storage areas to ensure trash free walkways
- Performs other related duties as needed when asked
- Reports damage of school property or any major repairs to the Director of Maintenance
- Makes minor repairs when appropriate
- Inventory on hand cleaning supplies and materials while requesting the replenishment of supplies in a timely manner. Assist in ordering supplies when needed.
- Clean cafeteria and setup/takedown/storing of tables as needed
- Scrub, strip and wax floors as directed
- Complete emergency cleaning services, snow removal or repairs when needed
- Move equipment and furniture in the buildings as directed
- Responsible for locking classrooms, windows, and buildings as well as checking for fire hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance
- Ability to communicate information and ideas as well as exchange accurate information in specific situations with the Director of maintenance and other staff.
Requirements:
Must be able to adhere to the following:
- Lift up to 50lbs
- Be able to operate or learn to operate cleaning machines
- Work with cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Lift, sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, and ascend/descend to complete tasks when needed

Pay: $13.70 - $28.43 per hour
