What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietitian position at Jawonio, Inc.?
Overview: The Dietitian plans and oversees dietetic services in Jawonio’s Community Living Services and Diagnostic & Health Services Division. The Dietitian is responsible for providing health care education by developing, implementing, and evaluating classroom and clinical instruction to support the orientation, ongoing educational needs and professional development of our employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. The Dietitian will enhance the Agency’s overall training program for the health and care of those we support.
2. Facilitate several agency wide health & well-being training such as, but not limited to: Blood Borne Pathogens, Choking Prevention, etc.
3. Perform ongoing assessments of the health trainings through analysis of quality indicators and discussions with program staff and management. Will develop and facilitate trainings to meet the health needs of the program.
4. Maintain records related to health-related trainings, including attendance sheets, written tests, and certifications.
5. Participate in quality improvement activities and ensure that records and documentation meet regulatory and professional standards.
6. Monitor each residence to ensure regulatory compliance.
7. Participate in various meetings and committees regarding the agency’s health care and related services.
8. Assist managerial staff with professional oversight including but not limited to coaching and redirecting, performance evaluations and verbal or written counseling as needed.
9. Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends offering necessary trainings to all staff and ensuring compliance.
10. Partner with other licensed medical professionals at the Agency (i.e., Director of Nursing, Medical Director, etc.) to ensure all training material is compliant with most up to date medical practices as well as for any and all needed medical / healthcare guidance.
11. Counsels and meets with individuals receiving services and their families, guardians, advocates or caregivers on the philosophy of nutrition and instructs them in meal planning (including food economy, selection and preparation) while keeping attuned to individual, cultural and ethnic preferences.
12. Conducts nutrition assessments and obtains nutrition history from individuals receiving services.
13. Develops individualized dietary plans and menus based on an individual’s nutritional need, dietary restrictions and preferences.
14. Completes all mandated reporting requirements by Jawonio and regulating agencies including but not limited to the following:
a. Dietary clinical notes and recommendations.
b. Menus and other pertinent information to allow for clinical review and analysis of nutritional and dietary plans.
c. Documents nutrition care plans and information into individual’s medical records.
d. Other Agency related reports and documentation.
15. Ensures house menus and meals are created based on consumer’s clinical dietary needs and preferences while offering weekly, monthly and seasonal variations.
16. Performs a variety of purchasing and procurement activities for food and equipment for the residences. Investigates and recommends vendors. Audits and approves bills as appropriate for purchases, verifying prices, amounts, delivery, and other details.
17. Participates in clinical meetings to review nature of diets and menus prepared, nutritional values maintained, and details to ensure Jawonio is meeting desired criteria and goals.
18. Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour
