RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs psychological evaluations of consumers through the administration of psychometric tests and/or behavioral observations for the purpose of assessing intellectual ability, emotional status and adaptive functioning. Interprets the findings and assesses consumer treatment needs. Prepares written reports and presents test results and recommendations to families.
2. Conducts psychological therapy with infants, toddlers, nursery children, summer education children of elementary school age and outpatients, including individual and group sessions using both cognitive and play therapy approaches.
3. Reports results of testing and recommendations to various other agency professionals including CPSE team, individual teachers, etc. to help in the formulation of treatment plans. Consults with neurologists, pediatrician, or other professionals as necessary, to develop and share a full understanding of the consumer's development.
4. Carries out parental counseling and provides guidance on parent and family issues, as well as how to deal with the nature of the child's disability.
Pay: From $62,462.40 per year

Qualifications
Requirements: Master's degree in psychology plus 2 years experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Normal office with periodic requirement of lifting and pushing associated with working with disabled children.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Certification from NYS to practice as psychologist
