Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and professional parts counter associate to join our team at Jay and Dean's Auto Repair. This role is essential in creating smooth process that leads to a great customer experience. The perfect candidate will be able to efficiently managing daily tasks and assist in streamlining the workflow which requires excellent communication skills, a strong customer service orientation, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting. The position will include some cross-training into sales which is typically learned on the job.

Responsibilities

Managing parts:

  • Looking up, ordering and receiving parts.
  • Make sure parts are what is expected for job completion.
  • Call to get best price on top quality parts.
  • Track cores and warranty work.
  • Track returns

Customer Service:

  • Greet and assist customers in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Answer inquiries, provide information about services/products, and guide customers to the appropriate departments or staff members.
  • Handle customer concerns and complaints diplomatically and escalate to management if needed.
  • Manage fleet accounts weekly

Some Administrative Tasks:

  • Manage phone calls, schedule appointments, and respond to emails and other forms of communication.
  • Maintain and organize records, including client details, bookings, and transactions.
  • Perform basic clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining inventory of office supplies.

Some Sales and Upselling:

  • Promote company services/products and encourage customers to purchase or upgrade.
  • Suggest packages, memberships, or promotions to maximize customer engagement and sales revenue.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets and report on sales performance to management.

Product Knowledge:

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the company’s products and services to provide accurate and persuasive information to clients.
  • Stay informed about promotions, discounts, and new offerings to effectively convey them to customers.

Payment and Transactions:

  • Handle cash, credit cards, and other forms of payment securely.
  • Issue invoices, receipts, and process refunds or exchanges as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with customers and staff.
  • Customer Service: Ability to provide exceptional service and maintain a friendly, helpful demeanor at all times.
  • Sales Ability: Experience or aptitude for identifying sales opportunities, upselling, and closing sales.
  • Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and phone systems.
  • Professional Appearance: Maintain a neat, professional appearance in line with company dress code.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think quickly and resolve customer issues efficiently.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: The role is typically performed in the parts room next to front office.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit or stand for long periods and interact with customers throughout the shift.

Operating hours:

  • 7:30am-5pm. (closed for lunch) No weekends!
  • Paid overtime

Salary position:

$35,000-$55,000 per year based on performance.
