Prominent Civiland Marine Contracting and Dredging Company, is looking for a seasoned safetyand health professional to join our team. Headquartered in Quincy,Massachusetts, the organization has 6 operating companies, domestically andabroad.
The Site Safety& Health Officer will have safety, health, and environmental managementresponsibility for ensuring a safe work environment in the performance of allmarine construction and dredging field operations. In this role, the SiteSafety & Health Officer will make regularly scheduled visits to job sites,interacting with clients, consultants, and field operations staff. This position is responsible for performing thorough walkthroughs of project fieldoperations, conducting safety and occupational health compliance reviews,general risk assessments, accident investigations, field inspections, and otherenvironmental valuations. As part of the site safety and healthmanagement team, the successful candidate will be responsible for administeringthe Company’s substance abuse testing and occupational health programs inaccordance with statutory guidelines and contractual requirements. In this rolethe successful candidate is expected to have a proficiency in technicalwriting, contributing and providing assistance in proposal development andprequalification submittals. The position requires extensive travel and awillingness to work a demanding schedule including nights and weekends, asrequired, to meet Company objectives.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive on-site hazard and risk assessments; safety audits; accident investigations; and equipment inspections to mitigate risk. Initiate and monitor corrective action.
- Partner with the project managers and site safety representatives to interpret, evaluate, and provide technical guidance on project safety requirements, accident investigation, and implementing corrective action measures.
- Develop and conduct onsite worker training on safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and use of safety equipment at job site locations.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, USC 46, EPA, and DOT regulations in accordance with statutory and contractual requirements.
- Administer and manage the substance abuse testing and occupational health programs for the organization.
- Compile, analyze, and report statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents as required.
- Assist with detailed incident investigations and root cause analysis, compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other employee health and wellness evaluations, to support health, safety and environmental management initiatives.
