                                                                                  School Nurse Aide

Reports to:                  School nurse and building principal  

Supervises:                 n/a

Qualifications:           High school diploma or GED

                                  Current first aid and CPR certifications

Job Goal:                     Provide care for students experiencing illness or injury at school.

Employment Terms:          180 days x 7 hours (1260 hours)  

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Evaluation:                 Annually by building principal

Regular Requirements:  Stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; lift/move up to 40 pounds; handle objects and tools with hands and operate equipment; repetitive use of fingers and hands to operate equipment

Occasional Requirements:  Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder, and horizontally; lift/move up to 50 pounds; ability to administer CPR

Visual Requirements:  Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

Hearing/Speaking Requirements:  Adequate to exchange information

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Administer appropriate first aid, medication, and specialized treatments to students.

1. Assist students with activities of daily living such as combing hair, brushing teeth, and changing clothes.

1. Record and maintain school health records, including logs of visitors to the nurse’s office, in a confidential and organized manner.

1. Contact parents as needed regarding sick or injured children, screening results, or other health matters.

1. Maintain confidential student health files.

1. Maintain and dispose of medications in accordance with district policy.

1. Regularly participate in appropriate professional development opportunities.

1. Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and board policies and procedures.

1. Utilize professional behavior in all school-related interactions.

1. Perform all other tasks as requested by supervisor.

Salary : $12 - $15
