What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Buyer - Motorized position at Jayco?
Purpose : this position exists to provide broad technical and analytical expertise in all areas of inventory management, manufacturing planning, scheduling and internal company processes to facilitate the timely completion of various projects and the successful introduction of improved planning and scheduling procedures. The position prepares and maintains material plans and production schedules for assigned components and sub-assemblies to provide a smooth flow of matched sets of parts, enabling manufacturing to achieve the master production schedule.
Essential functions
- Purchases production material to meet production needs.
- Ensure the integrity & reliability of the inventory status database.
- Recommend effective physical stock keeping levels.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate order policies, lot sizes, lead times, etc.
- Performs or coordinates studies of inventory performance.
- Develops and communicates inventory management policies and procedures. Educates and trains others.
- Coordinates and communicates with Purchasing, Suppliers, Manufacturing and Master Scheduler regarding shortages, reschedules, shop schedules, cut lists, scrap / re-work or other quality problems and initiates corrective actions when necessary.
- Communicates with suppliers to resolve quality, material issues, delivery and coordination of new products.
- Determines the disposition of rejected material.
- Performs data entry of new parts setup & processes all supplier charge backs.
- Reviews sales order changes and determines availability of parts required to complete change orders while working to achieve a high level of off-line complete manufactured units.
- Processes paperwork as required to support the materials management function including reprocessing orders due to BOM updates.
- Facilitates production planning for side departments and master schedule.
- Coordinates and maintains appliance data information.
- Coordinates and maintains paint schedules of units and caps.

This position may require sitting, standing, working in front of a computer monitor in an office setting approximately 75% of the day and occasionally, working in a hot, humid manufacturing environment.
Requires ability to travel between field locations.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to frequently lift and move up to ten pounds.
This position is a full-time position, which may require some flexibility in hours and days worked.
