What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Chemist position at Jayhawk Fine Chemicals Corp?
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Core responsibilities for the research and development of new products and processes; including, but not limited to, searching, and analyzing scientific and patent literature, running lab scale organic and inorganic processes, writing technical reports, ordering chemicals and materials.
Conducts chemical research to develop chemical processes and provides technical support to the production unit under the guidance of the R&D Manager.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Conducts research to development new products and processes
- Conducts research to improve yield, cost, and productivity of current processes
- Provide technical support to other departments as directed
- Develops and validates analytical methods for the transfer to the Quality Control group
- Read and analyze scientific literature related to current project objectives
- Provide oral and written updates on projects
STRATEGIC FOCUS:
- Develop new products and processes from technical packet to lab scale and then for transfer to plant production, by collaboration with QC, Engineering and Production
- Assist in the resolution of Production issues with the assistance of R&D staff that leads to improvements in product yield, reduces cost or cycle time of processes while maintaining product specifications and plant safety
- Work with R&D staff and the Analytical Chemist to develop and transfer new product analytical methods to QC.
NATURE & SCOPE:
- BS. in chemistry, preferably with 2 years of experience in a research and development environment
- Sound knowledge of general, organic and analytical chemistry.
- Ability to apply and adapt experience into solve project problems.
- Balance of analytical skills and strategic thinking.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
