Position Summary :
Dizzy’s Club (DC) is a 140 seat jazz club that serves food and is open 7 days a week. DC is located within Frederick P. Rose Hall, a multi-venue performing arts center. The DC Stage Technician is responsible for carrying out all stage duties as necessary and assigned within the club, including the load in and load out of artist stage equipment, creation of input list(s) if needed, selection of appropriate microphones, and the execution of sound check within the allotted schedule. The Stage Technician will also be responsible for setting up audio and video recording equipment in conjunction with JALC recording partners.
This position requires audio mixing live music performances and operating theatrical lighting equipment within DC on a nightly the position has a 40 hours per week guarantee for 48 weeks a year.
Responsibilities :
- Set up and operate live sound reinforcement equipment and theatrical stage lighting equipment.
- Set up and coordinate broadcast and recording equipment.
- Set stage and make adjustments according to the needs of the artists.
- Work with JALC Programming and Production Management to advance artist needs for DC.
- Maintain and take care of DC theatrical stage equipment, including theatrical stage lighting and sound equipment.
- Schedule DC substitute technicians as needed under supervision of the production management staff.
- Train DC substitute technicians.
- Coordinate with the production managers, and Director of Production for daytime and evening special and corporate events within DC as assigned.
- Maintain appropriate attire while DC is open to public and during performances.
- Maintain focus on performance while artists are on stage to ensure lighting and sound needs are met.
- Request additional labor when needed to assist with theatrical set-ups in DC.
- Advance incoming productions in DC for corporate events in coordination with and under the direction of facility management staff
- Report maintenance issues with DC equipment and instruments to management staff.
- Coordinate piano tuners’ schedule as supervised by management staff.
- Complete and submit a daily time sheet to the DC Manager.
- Handle other duties as assigned by the production managers or club management, which fall under the jurisdiction of the collective bargaining agreement between Local One IATSE and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Qualifications :
JALC does not offer a hybrid work schedule. All staff work together as a team, Monday through Friday at our offices (either Jazz at Lincoln Center’s administrative offices at 3 Columbus Circle or at Frederick P. Rose Hall, The House of Swing ).
