About the Role:
The Senior Project Engineer is a technically skilled and experienced engineer with developed communication, coordination, project management and leadership skills. The Senior Project Engineer typically manages one to two smaller projects and is the key designer on larger base-building and infrastructure upgrade projects.
The Senior Project Engineer actively participates in mentoring and development of engineers, including leading courses in JB&B University. The Senior Project Engineer assists an Associate/Partner as a project leader and is expected to proactively coordinate, communicate, problem solve across disciplines and exhibit the ability to balance the Client relationship with the project’s financial goals.

Overall Responsibilities:
Design
- Design Building Management Systems (BMS) for commercial office buildings, laboratories, hospitals, and data centers.
- Write project specifications for building automation systems utilizing direct digital control systems.
- Leads the design on BMS Tenant fit-out projects and is a key designer on BMS base building/infrastructure upgrades.
- Establishes design criteria from the project proposal and assembles basis of design documents.
- Assembles a complete set of contract documents for their trade including the specifications, control diagrams, point matrices and system architectural drawings.
- Reviews control shop drawings, RFI’s, Contractor change orders, performs site visits and punch-lists with limited supervision to verify that designs are being implemented accurately.
- Meet with contractors to assist in construction coordination.
- Interface with clients to determine goals and expectations of BMS design.
- Evaluate new BMS products.
- Survey and analyze existing control systems for either upgrade or replacement.
- Assists in establishing an efficient project schedule for his/her project team that ensures appropriate use of resources while adhering to deadlines.
- Assists in communicating with all internal and external project members about deadlines, issues, meetings, and deliverables to project success.
- Participates in the preparation of basic proposals/add services.
- Assists in coordinating, collaborating and updating entire project team (all internal departments) on a regular basis to ensure that design documents are aligned, and deadlines and design expectations are met.
- Attends project meetings alone or with Associate/Partner and provides technical support/expertise as needed.
- Meets with supervising Associate/Partner on a regular basis to provide project updates and address any outstanding problems/issues.
- Effectively prioritizes own work; supports all staff in completing their tasks to adhere to the project schedule.
- Assists in the review of other team members’ contract documents, calculations, shop drawings, design work and routing of major distribution.
- Understands and manages the complete design process for all types and phases of projects.
- Communicates project goals clearly and consistently to align with client expectations.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 Years’ experience in design of building automation and temperature control systems.
- Demonstrates and embraces JB&B core values.

- 5-7 Years' experience in design of building automation and temperature control systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Proficient in software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM).
Working Conditions:
- The position requires sitting, walking, and, at times, prolonged standing. Will be requested to visit construction sites and may be required to use ladders or lifts. The work requires both indoor and outdoor activity in temperatures ranging from moderate to extreme cold or hot and other weather conditions. May require lifting of equipment.
