Job Summary: Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager is responsible for multi-media environmental compliance programs including air permits, wastewater permit treatment and discharge, HMBPs, and storm-water permits, Reporting via CERS, SCS, SMARTS, and CDX. Also responsible for OSHA compliance, worker's compensation claims, and the IIPP for a medium size manufacturing plant in Sacramento.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance of the site’s waste-water and storm-water treatment and discharge systems. Troubleshooting the systems and be able to provide support to manufacturing or maintenance team.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS regulations, internal EHS requirements, and regulatory permits, including but limited to Hazardous Waste, Wastewater, Clean Air, RCRA, and Storm Water.
  • Work as the Emergency Response Team leader, maintain and inspect the Emergency Response Team (ERT) supplies and equipment on a monthly basis.
  • Enter newly approved chemicals into the Approved Chemical List and linking such chemicals to their associated Material Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
  • Coordinate Employee Training for New Hire Orientation, monthly toolbox topics, hazardous waste operations worker respiratory protection, bloodborne pathogen, and confined space entry training programs.
  • Oversee medical surveillance and workplace substance abuse prevention programs.
  • Maintain and evolve corporate Health and Safety Plan, Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP), code of safe practices, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct Quarterly safety team meetings and report to company senior management.
  • Conduct accident reviews and root-cause analysis, maintain company safety incentives and disciplinary programs.
  • Conduct chemical inventories of each chemical storage area on a monthly basis and prepare for the disposal of any un-used or expired chemicals, manage the fire extinguisher inspection program, and maintain company safety contingency plans (emergency and disaster preparedness, spill prevention, etc.)
  • Conduct H&S program and project-specific site audits to identify areas needing improvement. Recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operations to minimize hazard potential.
  • Maintain and develop HAZCOM program in accordance with OSHA regulations. Meet with local fire regulations, and industrial waste representatives as required. Demonstrated ability to interface with both external and internal clients

Education: BS Degree in Environmental engineering, environmental sciences, health and safety, or related field.

Experience: 5 years’ experience in the Environmental, Health, and Safety operations/programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiar with federal and state regulatory requirements in air, water, storm-water, wastewater, hazardous waste, solid waste, asbestos, and PCBs.
  • Intimate knowledge of US OSHA and Cal OSHA industry safety guidelines and regulations for construction and environmental industries. Have a proven track record of developing and implementing workplace safety, training, documentation, and compliance programs.
  • Previous California EHS experience, familiarity with pertinent regulations, good people skills, and writing ability.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) a plus.

 

Salary : $76,000 - $90,000
