The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance. This role will ensure the integrity of financial data, optimize financial processes, and support strategic decision-making through financial analysis. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee and manage all financial aspects, including accounting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax reporting.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific financial requirements.
Strategic Planning & Budgeting
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to align with company objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions, cost control, and profitability improvements.
- Monitor key financial metrics, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions when needed.
Operational & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, including sales tax and fuel tax reporting.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax consultants, and banking institutions.
- Implement and refine accounting software and financial systems for efficiency.
- Oversee payroll processes and ensure adherence to labor laws and company policies.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise and develop accounting and finance personnel.
- Work closely with operational leadership to align financial strategies with business goals.
- Collaborate with HR on benefits administration, payroll, and employee financial policies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 5 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in transportation, logistics, or a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience managing multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
