Job Summary:
JB Harris Transport LLC is seeking a skilled and reliable Tractor-Trailer Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Sweeny, TX. The ideal candidate will have expertise in bumper-to-bumper repair, basic electrical repair and installation, and knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role is vital to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet.
Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic assessments and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
- Conduct bumper-to-bumper inspections and repairs to ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition.
- Repair, replace, or install electrical components such as wiring, lighting, and other electrical systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
- Maintain compliance with DOT regulations and ensure vehicles meet safety and operational standards.
- Keep detailed records of all repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
- Collaborate with drivers and dispatch to prioritize and schedule repairs.
- Operate tools and equipment safely and maintain a clean work environment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with tractor-trailer maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and diagnostics.
- Proficiency in basic electrical repair and installation.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
