STEEL PRODUCTION QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR

JB Steel is looking for a Steel Production Quality Control Inspector

Who we’re looking for

The position of Steel Production Quality Control Inspector requires a meticulous and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in quality assurance within the steel manufacturing industry. This individual should possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to identify defects in the manufacturing process.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who can work independently and as part of a team to ensure that all steel products meet the highest quality standards. Possessing thorough knowledge and understanding of AISC structural steel standards & specifications and have experience with lean manufacturing principles.

Your workday might look like this

• Conduct thorough inspections of steel products at various stages of the production process to identify any defects or deviations from quality standards. Perform tests to ensure that products meet specifications and industry standards.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures and guidelines to maintain consistent product quality.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and quality control activities. Prepare and submit reports on quality findings, including recommendations for corrective actions.
• Investigate and analyze root causes of quality issues and defects. Collaborate with the production team to implement corrective and preventive measures to eliminate recurring problems.
• Ensure that all quality control activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies. Stay updated on changes to quality standards and incorporate them into the quality control processes.
• Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality control procedures and best practices. Foster a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement within the team.
• Evaluate and monitor the quality of materials and components supplied by vendors.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality control within the steel manufacturing industry. Experience with inspection techniques, testing methods, and quality management systems is essential.
• Proficiency in using quality control tools and software. Familiarity with industry standards and their application in quality control.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify quality issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey quality findings, recommendations, and training to team members and other stakeholders.
• Ability to write clear and concise reports and documentation.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build positive working relationships.

You’ll really stand out if you have

• A bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, materials science, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications in quality control or quality assurance.
• Experience with Strumis steel fabrication software.
• The ability to speak both English and Spanish.
